Moore Street, Knightsbridge

Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, SW3

The typical mid-nineteenth century stucco-fronted Chelsea house has one unusual aspect to its setting – it is directly on top of the District and Circle line tunnel, between Sloane Square and South Kensington stations.

The addition of a third floor and an extension at the back of the lower ground floor presented both architectural and engineering challenges.

The replanning of the house provides generous living space on ground and lower ground floors, with a small sunny paved garden acting as another room in good weather.  The three upper floors include a particularly finely detailed master bathroom and separate dressing room.
