Enlarging the living spaces of the house to create an improved family home
The existing living accommodation of the house was undersized and limited, in relation to the overall size of the home and the number of bedrooms.
The clients approached Haines Phillips to develop ideas to provide improved and enlarged kitchen and living accommodation at the lower ground floor, in a layout more appropriate for a family home.
Our design proposed replacement of the existing single storey rear extension with a new flat roofed, high ceilinged rear extension for the kitchen and dining spaces.
New contemporary extensions and internal alterations
The existing rear garden spiral stair was replaced with a new terrace to allow for a cosy snug room and improved connection between the building and rear garden spaces.
Other small scale but important internal alterations allowed the creation of new larder, utility and games room spaces making full use of the lower ground floor.
Planning consent was obtained in 2022 and the works were completed in 2023.
